AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE CORPORATE AREA OF
THE CITY OF CLERMONT TO BE A BIRD SANCTUARY;
PROHIBITING THE KILLING OR INJURY OF BIRDS
ANY.~RE nITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE
CITY OF CLER1iONT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT:
Section 1. The entire area within the corporate limits
of the City of C~ermont is hereby declared t~ be a Bird
Sanctuary for all birds, game birds or otherwise, which are
protected by the laws of the State of Florida.
Section 2. The shooting, trapping, or otherwise
killing or injuring any bird within the city limits of the
City of Clermont is hereby prohibited; provided, however,
that the provisions of this ordinance shall not include
birds which are declared to be pests or nuisances by the
laws of the State of Florida.
Section 3. Any person who shall be convicted in the
municipal court for the killing, trapping, or injuring of
any birds protected by this ordinance shall be punished
by a fine of not more than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00)
nor less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) or by imprisonment in
the common jail of the City for not more than ten (10)
days or by both such fine and imprisonment at the discretion
of the Mayor.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect
~ediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor
and all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
