O-39-43 ORDINANCE NO.& .". ¡j;¡¡.í AN ORDINANCE Providing a Tax Levy on Property in the City of Clermont For the Year 1939; Providing a Budget of Expenses for the Said City for the Year 1939, and Making Appropriations Therefor. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT: SECTION 1. It is hereby found and determined by the City Council that the following sums of money are required for the operation of the government of the City of Clermont for the year" 19::9 : For General Operating Expenses $1,486.50 For Interest and Sinking Fund 10,307.08 For Delinquent Tax Note Fund 2,944.88 SECTION 2. It is further found and determined by the Council that the total of the Assessment Roll of the City of Clermont for 1939, as prepared by the City Tax Assessor and as equalized, approved and confirmed by the Cit~Counci1 is $981,638.00; that each mill of taxes levied on said sum will produce $981.63, if such taxes are collected in full; that the reasonable expectancy of the collection of taxes is 75% of the total levy, and based on said expectancy of collection each mill levied should produce $736.22; that there are homestead exemptions of $238,400.00 to be deducted from the total . of the assessment roll to arrive at the value of property subject to taxation for operating expenses, leaving the total "assessed value of property subject to taxation for operating expenses of the City, $743,248.00; that each mill levied, based on an expectancy of collection of 75%, should produce!$743.2S. .. SECTION 3. It is hereby found and determined by the City Council that to raise the above mentioned sums of money, a tax levy of 20 mills is required to be made, as follows: For General Fund 2 mills For Interest and Sinking Fund l4.mills For Delinquent Tax Note Fund 4 mills SECTION 4. There is hereby levied and shall be collected on each dollar of taxable property in the City of Clermont, a total tax of 20 mills for the year 1939, as follows: For General Fund 2 mills For Interest and S inking Fund 14 mills For Delinquent Tax Note Fund 4 mills SECTION 5. The Tax Assessor of the City of Clermont is hereby directed to extend the assessment roll of the City, heretofore approved by the Council, in accordance with the millage provided in Section 4 of this ordinance, and to deliver same to the City Clerk and Tax Collector, wtth his warrant attached thereto; and the City Clerk and Tax Collector 1s hereby directed to collect said taxes at the times and in the manner provided by the law, and the General Ordinances of the City of Clermont. ;6 . SECTION 6. The moneys raised by this tax ,levy are hereby appropriated for the purposes for which levied; and no moneys raised for the Interest and Sinking Fund shall be used for any other purpose than paying, first the interest on indebtedness of the City of Clermont falling due during the cåaendar year ~ ~ of 1940, and. second, for the retirement of the principal of such indebtedness in such manner as the Council may hereafter determine; and no moneys raised for the Delinquent Tax Note Fund shall be used for any other purpose than the purchase of Delinquent Tax Notes of the City of Clermont. SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall be ef~ec- tive immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Passed by the Council at a meeting held on October 19, 1939.
