ORDINANCE NO. 84

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A TAX LE.VY ON PROPERTY
IN THE CITY OF CLERMONT FOR THE YEAR 1948;PRO-
VIDING A BUDGET OF EXPENSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
1948-1949 AND MAKING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFORE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLEß\ONT:
SECTION 1. It is hereby found and determined by the Ci~
Council of the City of Clermont, lAke County, Florida, that the
following sums of money are required for the operation of the
government of the City of Clermont for the Fiscal Year of 1948-1949:
For General Operating Expenses
$16,995.16
For Interest
10,575.00
Sinking Fund for Bonded Indebtedness
13,500.00
SECTION 2. It is fUrtherfbund and detennined by the City
Council that the total of the Assessment Roll of the City of Clermont
for 1948, as prepared by the City Tax Assessor and as equalized,
approved and ccnfirmed by the City Council, is $2,408,112.00;
that the following deductions from said Assessment Roll must be
made in order to arrive at the value of property subject to taxation
for Bond Debt Service:
(a) Widows Exemptions 17,915.00
(b) Sta te Owned Lands 1,200.00
(c) County Owned Lands 64,750.00
(d) City Owned Lands 73,020.00
(e) Disability Exemptions 1,000.00
(f) Delinquent Properties 8,170.00
(g) Churches and Fraternal Organizations 52,900.00
Total . $ 218,955.00
thereby leaving a total of $2,189,157.00 and each Mill thereon will

produce $2,189.16 if such taxes are collected in full; and, that
the following deductions from the Assessment Roll of $976,220.00
must be made in order to arrive at the true valuation of property
subject to taxation for General Operating Expenses:
(a) Homestead Exemptions
(b) Excluded Area (1941)

thereby leaving a total of $1,213,937.00, and that each Mill levied
thereon should produce $1,213.94, if such taxes are collected in full.
SECTION 3. It is hereby found and determined by the City Council
of the City of Clermont that to raise the above mentioned sums of mcnay,

a tax levy of 26 Mills is required to be made as follows:
For General Fund
14 Mills
For Interest & Sinking Fund, and
Reserve for Bonded Indebtedness
11 Mills
SECTION 4. That there is hereby levied and shall be collected
on each dollar of taxable property in the City of Clermont and in the
area excluded from the City of Clermont by Chapter 21152, Acts of the
Legislature, 1941, for Interest and Sinking Fund, and Reserve for
Bonded Indebtedness, a tax of 11 Mills for the year of 1948 on all
property in the City of Clermont, save and except that property in-
cluded in the area as excluded from the City of Clermont by Chapter
21152, Acts of the Legislature, 1941, For General Operating Expenses
a tax of 14 Mills for the year of 1948, as follows, to-wit:
For Genera 1 Fund
14 Mills
For Interest & Sinking Fund, and
Reserve "for Bonded Indebtedness
11 Mills
SECTION 5. The Ta3¡ Assessor of the City of Clermont is hereby
directed to extend the Assessment Roll of the City of Clermont
heretofore approved by the Ci~ Council in accordance with the millage
provided in Section 4 of this ordinance and to deliver same to the
City Clerk and Tax Collector, and is hereby directed to collect the
said taxes at the time and in the manner provided by law and the
general ordinances of the City of Clermont, Florida.
SECTION 6. The monies raised by this tax levy are hereby
appropriated for the purposes for which levied; and no monies raised
for the Interest and Sinking Fund, and Reserve for Bonded Indebtedness,
shall be used for any other purpose than paying, first, the interest
on indebtedness of the City of Clermont falling due during the calendar

year of 1948-1949, and, second, for the retirement of the principal
indebtedness in such manner as the Council may hereafter determine.

SECTION 7. This ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
