ORDINANCE NO. 88
AN ORDINANCE REqUIRING ALL NON-RESIDENT SALESMEN,
CANVASSERS, PETITIONERS AND SOLICITORS OF SUBSCRIP -
TIONS TO OR FOR ALL PUBLICATIONS TO REGISTER IN THE
CITY OF CLERMONT; PRESCRIBING rAANNER AND REQUIREMENTS
OF REGISTERING, AND OTHER W~TTERS RELATING THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA:
SECTION I. DEFINITIONS
(a) Salesmen, canvassers, petitioners and solicitors
shall embrace any non-resident person or group of persons who
solicit a subscription for any publication from any person, or
licensed business within the territorial boundaries of the City
of Clermont.
(b) Publication shall include any and all magazines,
papers, pamphlets, or books published by or in behalf of any
person, firm, or corporate entity, which is delivered by mail
or otherwise daily, weekly, monthly or at any other regular period.
(c) Subscription shall embrace one or more times of
delivery to the subscriber of any publication.
(d) Registrant shall mean anyone registering as a
subscription salesman, canvasser, petitioner or solicitor.
SECTION II. REGISTRATION
(a) All non-resident salesmen desiring to sell, canvass,
petition and solicit subscriptions to or for any publication shall
first register with the City Clerk of the City of Clermont in a
book provided for that purpose.
(b) Each registrant shall be furnished with a separate
page on which he must give all information requested by the City
Clerk including his or her full name, age, residence; name and
address of person, firm or corporation for whom he or she is sell-
ing, canvassing¡ petitioning or soliciting subscriptions for;
name, age and address of any and all members of his crew, team
or those who are acting or will act in this city under his direction,
inoependently or otherwise.
(c) The police of the City of Clermont shall be also

notified of the registering of such person, and identified to the
police by the City 'Clerk.
(d) The City Clerk or the police may require a sep-
arate registration of all crew members of the registrant.
(e) The City Clerk independently or under the order
of the police may require the applicant for registration or reg-

istrant to wire, at his or her expense, for verification of his
or her authority to sell, canvass, petition or solicit subscrip-
tions before allowing said applicant to register.
(f) The police of the City of Clermont may require
the fingerprints of the applicant, including those of his crew
or team, on the registration blank or on separate cards used by
the police in fingerprinting anyone coming under their authority.
(g) A second registration shall not be required unless
said former registrant shall represnt a different person, firm
or corporation under whose name he was previously registered in
this City.
(h) No previously registered member of any crew or
team working under a former registrant shall sell, canvass, pet-
ition or solicit subscriptions in the City without first re-reg-
istering as hereinabove provided.
SECTION In.
There shall be no fee charged or permit or license
issued to any registrant.
SECTION IV. PASSAGE,AND ApPROVAL
(a) This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor of the
City of CleDTIont.
