AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8 - 16(a), SECTION 8 - 34(a), AND
SECTION 8 - 40(a), (b), (g5) and g17) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,
CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO ELECTRICITY: PRO-
VIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DA TE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE
COUNTY, FLORIDA:
SECTION I: Sub-paragraph (a) of Sec. 8 - l6(a) of the Code of
Ordinances, City of Clermont, Florida, is hereby amended by adding the follow~.
ing sentence at the end of said sub-paragraph:
"A permit for temporary service for construction work
will not be required. "
SECTION II: Sub-paragraph (a) of Sec. 8-34 of the Code of Ordi-
nances, City of Clermont, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"A main disconnect of one hundred amperes or more must
be installed for the owner or his agent by a master or
journeyman electrician and located within seven feet of the
meter either inside or outside of the building. The height
of the main switch or breaker on a residence shall not be
over six (6) feet from the ground and within seven feet of
the meter, Serviçe conductors for all commercial build-
ings shall not be smaller than three #2 wires installed in
l-l /4 inch conduit. If a commercial building or residence
does not exceed 600 square feet and indicated load not ex-
ceeding 5,000 watts, based on 200 watts per current consum-
ing outlet, plus maximum wattage for special purpose outlets
plus actual !lameplate wattage for direct connected loads, the
minimum service disconnect may be 60 amperes and the ser-
vice conductors shall not be less than #6, 3 wire, installed
in I inch conduit, or cable, if residential.
Minimum service to any residence in excess of 600 square
feet shall be #2, 3 wire conductors. If the indicated load,
based on 200 watts per current consuming outlet plus the
maximum wattage for special purpose outlets plus the actual
nameplate wattage for direct connected loads exceeds 30
kilowatts, the service wire size shall be increased to #2/0,
3 wire conductors. Main service disconnect fuses shall be
sized to protect the service wire size, In calculating total
load by this method, only the larger of the heating or cool-
ing load need be considered. For resistance heating loads,
75% of the total connected heat load may be used to determine
maximum wattage in the above calculations."

SECTION III: Sub-paragraphs (a), (b), (g 5) and (g 17) of Sec.
8-40 of the CõëieofOrëHñãi1ces, City of Clermont, Florida, are hereby altered,
amended and otherwise changed as follows:
(A) Sub-paragraph (a) is amended by adding the following sentence
at the end thereof:
"Duplex and single family residences are excluded. ..
(B) Sub-paragraph (b) is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) Steel tube or EMT may be used in suspended concrete
slabs, but shall not be installed in slabs on direct contact
with ground, "
(C) Sub-paragraph (g 5) is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(g 5) Underground service conduit shall be one size larger
than required above ground; and, all underground sub-
feeder conduits shall be one size larger than required above
ground, unless, however, installation has been designed or
approved by an engineer registered by the State of Florida. "
(D) Sub-paragraph (g 17) is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(g 17) Surface cook tops shall be wired with a minimum of
3 #8, Oven circuits shall be a minimum of 3 #8. "
SECTION IV: Effective date.
The Council finds it necessary to declare the passage of this ordi-
nance to be an emergency measure and, therefore, same shall become effec-
tive upon its passage,
