Run For Freedom City of CCermont Proclamation Whereas, the United States was founded on the principle that all people are born with an unalienable right to freedom; and Whereas, liberty and human rights are fundamental principles of the United States; and Whereas, human trafficking is modern day slavery exercised through forced labor, debt bondage, involuntary servitude,forced marriage and commercial sexual exploitation; and Whereas, the victims of human trafficking are citizens and immigrants, men, women and children; and Whereas, they can be abused in their own countries, or find themselves far from home and vulnerable; and Whereas, we must join together as a Nation and global community to provide a safe haven by protecting victims and prosecuting traffickers; and Whereas, the City of Clermont recognizes the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation and Assistant State Attorney, Robert J. Welch, for successfully prosecuting the first domestic sex trafficking case under the Florida State Human Trafficking Law; Now, Therefore, I, Harold S. Turville, Jr., Mayor of the City of Clermont, Florida, extend greetings and best wishes to the members, partners and volunteers of Run for Freedom serving Central Florida in preparation for the 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. at Clermont Waterfront Park.
