AN ORDINANCE Al'1ENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 9-2 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES, CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ADMI~ìS-
TRATIVE PROVISIONS FOR THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1957-
58 EDITION, PART TWO, AS PUBLISHED BY THE SOUTHERN BUILDING CODE CONGRES~,
BY THE ADOPTION OF AN ADMINISTRATIVE CHAPTER OF THE BUILDING CODE,
PART II, GAS; PROVIDING FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF A PLUMBING DEPARTMENT,
AND INSPECTORS, ASSISTANTS, AND OTHER EMPLOYEES IN CONNECTION THERE·
WITH; PROVIDING FOR POWERS AND DUTIES OF PLUMBING OFFmCIAL; PROVIDING
FOR APPLICATION FOR PERMITS, ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF
FEES THEREFOR, A~D INSPECTIONS OF WORK PERFORMED UNDER PERMITS ISSUED;
PROVIDING FOR A CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL; PROVIDING FOR LICENSING
AND BONDING OF PLUMBERS AND GAS FITTERS ENGAGING IN THE GAS FITTING
OR GAS SERVICE BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY OF CLERMONT; PROVIDING
FOR REGULATION OF EXCAVATIONS IN PUBLIC STREETS OR ALLEYS; PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
THEREOF IN THE EVENT PARTS OF THIS ORDINANCE ARE HELD TO BE UNCON-'-
STITUTIONAL AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
CHAPTER 1. TITLE: This Ordinance shall be known as the "Adminis-
trative Chapter of the Southern Standard Building Code, 1957-58
Edition, Part II, Gas."
CHAPTER 2. PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The purpose of this ordinance is
to provide administrative provisions to supplement and make effective
the Southern Standard Building Code, 1957-58 Edition, Part II, Gas,
as published by the Southern Building Code Congress.
CHAPTER 3. ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS: Chapter 9, Section 9-2 of
the Code of Ordinances of Clermont, Florida, is hereby amended by
adding to said section Sections 8.1 through 8.12 inclusive, together
with subsections thereof, which are set forth in Exhibit "A" attached
hereto and identified as "Suggested Administrative Chapter, Part II,
Gas." published by Southern Building Code Congress, which administra-
tive provisions are hereby incorporated herein by reference and
made a part of this ordinance as if fully set forth herein, except
that the following provisions of said chapter shall be deleted and
modified as follows:
(A) The followin~ provision shall be deleted from Section 8.2.2-
Inspectors - of said Administrative Chapter: "No person shall
be appointed as inspector of gas systems who has not had at
least ten years' experience as a Plumbing Inspector, Gas Inspector,
Journeyman Plumber, Master-Plumber, Engineer, or as a Superin-
tendent Foreman, or competent mechanic in charge of plumbing or
gas construction."
(B) Section 8.9.5 - Bond Required - Said Section of said Adminis-
trative Chapter is hereby modified and hereby provides for a
$1,000.00 bond instead of the $5,000.00 bond as required therein.
Three copies of such Administrative Chapter shall be kept on file
in the office of the Clerk of the City of Clermont, Lake County,
Florida
