Dev Disabilities Aware Day City of Clermont
Proclamation
Whereas, Building Block Ministries is involved in advocating for programs that promote
positive system changes and that allow persons with developmental disabilities to achieve
optimum independence and to promote innovative programs and practices that improve the
quality of life for these individuals; and
'Whereas, Building Blocks Ministries encourages all Florida citizens to actively participate in
events that appropriately recognize and celebrate Florida's diverse population, including persons
with developmental disabilities; and
'Whereas, "Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day" has been established to promote
awareness and understanding of the opportunities, challenges and needs of persons with
developmental disabilities; and
Whereas, "Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day" also recognizes Florida's public
policy accomplishments concerning persons with disabilities, as well as identifying the
improvements to public policy that are needed to ensure that all of Florida's citizens with
developmental disabilities have the capacity to lead full, productive and engaged lives; and
'Whereas, it is necessary and appropriate that local communities in Florida such as the City of
Clermont support the mission and purpose of"Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day" and
encourage their citizens to recognize and respect this important commemoration;
Now, Therefore, I, Gail L. Ash, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City
of Clermont in the State of Florida, do hereby proclaim March 28, 2015 as
Developmental Disabilities .Awareness Day
In 'Witness 'Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
Clermont to be affixed this 24th day of March in the year two thousand fifteen.
