RESOLUTION NO. 2015-43
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA PURSUANT TO SECTION 2-
61 OF THE CITY CODE CREATING A YOUTH COUNCIL; PROVIDING
FOR THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMITTEE; APPOINTMENT BY
THE CITY COUNCIL AND DUTIES AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 2-61 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clermont, provides
that the City Council may create a special committee or board as the Council deems is in the best
interest of the City of Clermont,
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council that the creation of a special
committee to be known as the City of Clermont Youth Council is in the best interest of the
citizens of the City of Clermont,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Clermont, Lake County, Flonda that
Section 1
The City Council of the City of Clermont does herby create a committee to be known and
designated as the City of Clermont Youth Council subject to the following
1 Creation
There is created the City of Clermont Youth Council which shall consist of seven (7)
members The members will be City residents who are actively enrolled in a public
or pnvate high school in grades nine (9) through twelve (12) The members shall be
appointed by the City Council and each member appointed shall serve a term of two
(2) years, unless grade twelve (12) is completed dunng the term, at which time the
position shall be declared vacant The Seats on the Youth Council shall be numbered
one through seven Appointment to Seats one through five shall be made by the
Council Member whose Council Seat Number corresponds to the Seat Number of the
subject Youth Council Seat, confirmed by a majonty vote of the City Council Seats
six and seven shall be at large, and appointed by motion of any member of the City
Council, approved by a majority vote of the City Council
2 Election of Officers
The City Youth Council shall elect a Chairman to conduct meetings and a Vice-
Chairman to conduct meetings in the absence of the Chairman Elections shall be
held at the first regular meeting after annual appointments are made by the City
Council

3 Duties and Responsibilities
The City Youth Council shall have the duty and responsibility to
a) Evaluate and review problems facing youth in the City
b) Facilitate neighborhood meetings with youth to discuss problems, needs
suggested improvements for our community
c) Meet regularly with the Mayor and City Council to share ideas and discuss
issues, concerns, and needed improvements
d) Attend City Council meetings as needed and participate in vision and goal
sessions
e) Assist in planning youth/recreation activities
f) Evaluate and advise the City Council and/or City Manager on issues
forwarded to the City Youth Council for advice
g) Any such other duties as the City Council and/or City Manager deem
appropnate
Section 2
All resolutions, rules, regulations, restrictions or policies of the City of Clermont in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict
Section 3
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
