ORDINANCE No. 2016-35
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, CREATING CITY CODE
CHAPTER 15 "FIRE SAFETY CODE", PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
SEVERABILITY; CODIFICATION; AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Chapter 166, Flonda Statutes, empowers the City of Clermont to adopt
regulations which furthers a municipal purpose, and
WHEREAS, the State Fire Marshal has, pursuant to Chapter 633 025, Flonda Statutes,
adopted the"Flonda Fire Prevention Code"and the"Life Safety Code"which shall be applicable
to all local governments throughout the State of Flonda, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that creating Clermont City Code Chapter
15 bears a substantial relationship to the continued protection of the health, safety, and welfare of
its citizens,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED by the City Council of the
City of Clermont, Lake County, Flonda that
Section 1.
The above-stated Whereas Clauses are hereby adopted by the Council as findings in support of the
provisions herein
Section 2.
Chapter 15, "Fire Code and Standards" of the Code of the City of Clermont, Flonda, is hereby
created to read as follows
CHAPTER 15
FIRE SAFETY CODE
Section 15-1. Title.
This Chapter shall be known as the Fire Safety Code of the City of Clermont, Lake County,
Flonda

Section 15-2. Adoption of Fire Prevention Code.
Pursuant to Florida Statutes 633 025,the most current edition of the Florida Fire Prevention
Code, NFPA 1, adopted by the State Fire Marshal is adopted and enacted as the Fire
Prevention Code of the City of Clermont as fully as if set out at length in this Section
Section 15-3. Adoption of Life Safety Code.
Pursuant to Florida Statutes 633 025, the most current edition of the Life Safety Code,
NFPA 101, adopted by the State Fire Marshal is adopted and enacted as the Life Safety
Code of the City of Clermont as fully as if set out at length in this Section
Section 3. Codification.
The text of Section 2 of this Ordinance shall be codified as a part of the Clermont City Code The
codifier is authorized to make editorial changes not effecting the substance of this Ordinance by
the substitution of"article" for "ordinance", "section" for "paragraph", or otherwise to take such
editorial license
Section 4. Severability.
If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid, it is the intent of the Council that the invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of this Ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared severable
Section 5. Conflict.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances, all City Code sections or parts of City Code sections, and
all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict
Section 6. Effective Date.
This Ordinance shall be published as provided by law and shall take effect immediately upon its
Second Reading and Final Passage
