AN ORDINANCE UNDER THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 21,
ARTICLE 1, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO INCLUDE THE
PUBLIC SERVICE TAX ON THE PURCHASE OF POTABLE WATER,
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, HEREBY ORDAINS THAT:
Chapter 21, Taxation is hereby amended as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 21-1. Tax collected by seller based upon charges or sales
to purchaser.
There is hereby levied by the city a tax on each sale in said
city of electricity, metered or bottled gas, bulk gas,
telecommunication services, fuel oil, and potable water sales.
Said tax is hereby levied in the following amounts and manners:
(a) Electricity, metered or bottled gas, and bulk gas. An
amount equal to ten percent (10.0%) of the taxable
purchase amount.
(b) Teleconununication service. An amount equal to seven
(7.0) percent of the taxable telecommunication service
as defined in Florida Statutes, 203.012.
(c) Fuel oil. An amount equal to 4.0 cents per gallon of
fuel oil.
(d) Potable water. An amount equal to five (5.0) percent of
the purchase amount.
SECTION 2.
Should any section or part of this section be declared invalid by
any court of competent jurisdiction, such adjudications shall not
apply or affect any other provision of this ordinance, except to
the extent that the entire section or part of the section may be
inseparable in meaning and effect from the section to which such
hOlding shall apply.

SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall be published as provided by law and it shall
become law and take effect immediately upon its second reading and
final passage.
