R-2016-44 CITY OF CLERMONT RESOLUTION NO. 2016-44 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT CITY COUNCIL RELATING TO THE PROCLAMATION OF A NATURAL EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, Emergency Management provides for Local Emergencies; and WHEREAS,it is anticipated that significant rainfall and wind may occur due to Hurricane Matthew, and such rainfall and wind may cause substantial damage to and loss of property including homes,farms and other personal property and has the potential to cause substantial harm or injury to the population; and WHEREAS,this storm may cause damages to infrastructure; and WHEREAS, Lake County is currently under a State of Emergency declared by Governor Scott; and WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Clermont City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida has determined that a state of emergency exists and hereby declares a Local Emergency; and WHEREAS, the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, may need assistance from the State of Florida to handle the potential damages to life and property; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor of the City Council of the City of Clermont,Florida, Lake County, Florida as follows: Section 1. Emergency Declaration. A Resolution of Local Emergency is hereby declared. Section 2. Assistance Requested. The Governor of the State of Florida is hereby requested to arrange and deliver the recovery and response activities as may be necessary and available to aid the citizens of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida,during this emergency. Section 3. Effective Date; Duration. This Resolution shall take effect upon signature and shall be in effect for seven (7) days or until cancelled or extended as required by law.
