O-2017-07 CITY OF CLERMONT ORDINANCE No. 2017-07 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 "ADMINISTRATION", ARTICLE II "CITY COUNCIL", SECTION 2-33, "COMPENSATION OF MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS", PROVIDING THAT EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2019, COMPENSATION FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL SHALL BE $650 PER MONTH AND $550 PER MONTH, RESPECTFULLY, AND SHALL BE AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER BY THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION, CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY, CONFLICT, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, as follows: Section 1. Chapter 2 "Administration ", Article II, "City Council", Section 2-33, "Compensation of Mayor and Council Members" is hereby amended to read as follows (strikethrough depicts deleted language and underlined added): Sec. 2-33, Compensation of mayor and councilmembers. (a) The Mayor shall receive compensation or a salary of $400.00 per month. Reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of the duties of this office shall be paid by the City. Effective January 1, 2019 the mayor shall receive compensation or a salary of$650.00 per month. (b) The City Council Members shall receive compensation or salary of $300.00 per month. Reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of the duties of this office shall be paid by the City. Effective January 1, 2019 the Council Members shall receive compensation or a salary of$550.00 per month. (c) Effective January 1, 2020 and annually each year thereafter the compensation or salary for the Mayor and Council Members shall be adjusted by the applicable Consumer Price Index for All Urban Customers, U.S. City Average,published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor as of January 1. 1 CITY OF CLERMONT ORDINANCE No. 2017-07 Section 2. Codification. The.text of Section 1 of this.Ordinance shall be codified as a part of the Clermont City Code. The codifier is authorizedto make editorial changes not effecting the substance of this ordinance by the substitution of "article" for "ordinance", "section" for "paragraph", or otherwise to take such editorial license. Section 3. Severability. It is declared to be the intent of the City Council that, if any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this Ordinance is for any_reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision, and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof. Section 4. Conflict. Any portion of the Code of Ordinances, City of Clermont, Florida or any ordinance or part thereof in conflict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. Effective Date.
