African American History City of Clermont
Proclamation
'Whereas, African-American History is a vital part of America's History; and
'Whereas, February has been designated as a month to recognize and celebrate
memorable events of African Americans; and
Whereas, in 1926 Dr. Carter G. Woodson set aside a special time in February to
recognize the heritage and achievements of Black Americans; and
Whereas, the history of African Americans have helped shape our country in a
positive way through their extraordinary achie vements, inventions, and memorable
positive events;,,and
'Whereas, the City of Clermont will continue to work towards becoming an inclusive
community in which all citizens; past, present and future, are respected and recognized
for their contributions to our community, state, country, and the world;
NOW, Therefore, I, Gail L. Ash, Mayor of the City of Clermont, Florida, do
hereby proclaim the month of February, two-thousand seventeen as
