RESOLUTION
No. 490
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, ADDRESSING A TRAFFIC HAZARD ON STATE ROAD NO. 50; REQUESTING
TIlE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, TO EVALUATE THE
PRESENT CONDITION OF TRUCK TRAFFIC ON STATE ROAD NO. 50; AND REQUESTING
THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO RESTRICT TRUCK TRAFFIC ON STATE ROAD
NO. 50 TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Clermont has determined that large
truck traffic on State Road No. 50 is creating a traffic hazard by allowing large
trucks to monopolize both lanes of traffic on State Road No. 50 through the
rolling hills of the City of Clermont, and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, has jurisdiction
over the control of traffic on State Road No. 50, and
WHEREAS, the obvious solution to the severe traffic hazard presently burdening
the citizens of Clermont is to restrict large truck traffic to the right hand lane
thereby allowing the free flow of traffic in the left hand lane on State Road No. 50,
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Clermont that
the City Manager forward a copy of this Resolution to the State of Florida, Department

of Transportation,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby requests the Department of
Transportation to evaluate the present situation of truck traffic, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby requests the Department of
Transportation to adopt the obvious solution of restricting large truck traffic to the
right hand lane on State Road No. 50 from Twelfth Street to Highway 27 in Clermont,
Lake County, Florida.
