"Whereas, African-American History is a vital part of America's History; and
'Whereas, February has been designated as a month to recognize and celebrate
memorable events of African Americans; and
'Whereas, in 1926 Dr. Carter G. Woodson set aside a special time in February to
recognize the heritage and achievements of Black Americans; and
"Whereas, African Americans have helped shape our country over the years in a
positive way through their extraordinary achievements, inventions, and memorable
events; and
"Whereas, the City of Clermont will continue to work towards becoming an inclusive
community in which all citizens; past, present and future, are respected and recognized
for their contributions to our community, state, country, and the world;
.Now, Therefore, I, Gail L. Ash, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of
Florida, do hereby proclaim the month of February, two-thousand nineteen as
Black 3-(istory Month
In 'Witness "Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of
the City of Clermont to be affixed this 12th day of February in the year two thousand
