WHEREAS, The City of Clermont, Florida, United State of
America has associated itself as a Sister-City with the City of
Clermont-Fernand of France, and
WHEREAS, said Sister-City, Clermont-Fernand, is in fact the
namesake of the City of Clermont, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Mayor of Clermont-Fernand, Gabriel Montpied
and the citizens thereof have been most ,gracious and kind in corres-
ponding with the City of Clermont, Florida and exchanging gifts,
cards and valuable information, and
WHEREAS, there have been various cultural exchanges and communi-
cations between said Sister-Cities, and
WHEREAS, the Clermont Chapter of PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE, an inter-
national organization dedicated to the origination and cultivation of
good will and friendship between the peoples of the world, has
expressed its desire to further the relationship between these Sister-
Cities, and
WHEREAS, the local President of said organization, Mrs. Preston
Maynard has expressed her willingness to go abroad as an Ambassador
to said Sister-City, Clermont-Fernand, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Clermont, Florida deems
it wise, and expedient and for the best interest of the Citizens of
Clermont, Florida to have the said Mrs. Preston Maynard represent
this City as such Ambassador.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the said Mrs. Preston Maynard of
Clermont, Florida be and she hereby is duly appointed by this City
as Clermont, Florida's official Ambassador to the City of Clermont-
Ferrand in France, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that she travel abroad to said Sister-
City and take with her the sincere best wishes and Alms of Friendship
from the City Council and Citizens of Clermont, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this City Council of the City of
Clermont, Lake County, Florida, endorse and approve such Resolution
as set forth hereinabove.
