R-82-417• CITY OF CLERMONT RESOLUTIONS No. 417 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA ADOPTING A POLICY ON THE TRIMMING OR REMOVAL OF SHORELINE VEGETATION ON CITY PROPERTY. WHEREAS, Chapter 19-47 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clermont states that it is unlawful for any person to cut down trees or shrubbery on City property without the approval of the City Manager; WHEREAS, the City of Clermont understands that citizens may wish to trim or remove shoreline vegetation for aesthetic purposes; WHEREAS, the City of Clermont recognizes that shoreline vege- tation is beneficial to our lakes by preventing erosion of the shoreline and removing nutrients harmful to water quality; WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City to formulate a policy to satisfy the environmental benefits of vegetation by insuring that shoreline vegetation is maintained, and yet allows citizens to trim vegetation for aesthetic purposes: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida that: 1. The City Manager may authorize the trimming of vegetation above the high water mark. 2. No beaches may be maintained or created on City property without approval of the City Council. 3. Vegetation in the water or below the established average high water mark (96.5 feet for the Clermont Chain-of-Lakes) may not be trimmed or removed without the approval of the City Council.
