R-68-124• • RESOLUTIONS N ° 18 3 N0. 124 WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Clermont, Florida, that there is confusion exist- ing due to the varying speed limits on State Highway 50 thru the City, and WHEREAS, there is congestion as well as topographical hazards throughout the City along this highway, and WHEREAS, there have been numerous accidents resulting in property damage and injury to persons, and WHEREAS, approximately two-thirds (2/3) of this distance is now regulated to the maximum speed of thirty-five (35) miles per hour and the remaining one-third (1/3) at forty-five (45) miles per hour, and WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the speed limit should be consistent along this stretch of highway thru this City, and WHEREAS, the City is desirous of erecting large signs at the City Limits, east and west, on Highway 50 substantially as follows. WELCOME TO CLTRMONT Speed Limit 35 MPH (Unless Otherwise Posted) STRICTLY ENFORCED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA that the City Council does hereby request the State Road Department to limit the speed along Highway 50 to a maximum of thirty-five (35) miles per hour throughout this City and that appropriate signs be erected in accordance therewith, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be furnished to the State Road Department upon its being adopted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, held on March 12, 1968. ;- ~~ Manager City e 'Florida \ ~;'
