A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY,
STATE OF FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE STATE ROAD 50
REALIGNMENT PROJECT IN DOWNTOWN GROVELAND AS THE
NUMBER ONE LAKE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION PRIORITY
FOR FUNDS THROUGH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION AS PRIORITIZED BY THE LAKE-SUMTER
METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Groveland has requested consideration from the local
governments of Lake County for formal support of the State Road 50 Realignment Project, a
project that will catalyze the redevelopment of Downtown Groveland; and
WHEREAS, the State Road 50 Realignment Project now qualifies for funding through
the Florida Department of Transportation's Strategic Intermodal System program, a funding
program for transportation facilities deemed as high priority by the Florida Department of
Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization is the agency
designated by federal and state law to prioritize transportation projects for federal and state
funding; and
WHEREAS, the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization annually updates the
List of Priority Projects to be utilized by the Florida Department of Transportation in making
programming decisions for transportation funds; and
WHEREAS, the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization currently ranks the
State Road 50 Realignment Project as the top priority on the Right of Way Project table of the
List of Priority Projects; and
WHEREAS, the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization currently ranks the
State Road 50 Realignment Project as the Number Five(#5) priority on the Top 15 Projects table
of the List of Priority Projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Groveland has requested a resolution of support from the City
of Clermont to support the State Road 50 Realignment Project being ranked by the Lake-Sumter
Metropolitan Planning Organization as the Number One (#1) Lake County transportation priority
for funding from the Florida Department of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Clermont, Florida,as follows:
SECTION 1.
The City of Clermont supports the City of Groveland's request for the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan
Planning Organization to prioritize the State Road 50 Realignment Project, planned for
Downtown Groveland, as the Number One (#1) Lake County transportation priority.

SECTION 2.
The City Administrator is directed to transmit this resolution to the Executive Director of the
Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
