RESOLUTIONS
RESOLUTION NO 344
A RESOLUTION OF THE PEOPLE OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA, U.S.A. THROUGH
THEIR ELECTED CITY OFFICIALS, SUPPORTING THE HONORABLE JIMMY
CARTER, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN HIS EFFORTS
TO PEACEFULLY SECURE THE SAFE RELEASE OF AMERICAN HOSTAGES HELD
IN IRAN.
WHEREAS, our great nation is in the midst of an international crisis which
causes grave concern to us all, and
WHEREAS, the country of Iran has initiated this crisis by holding American
citizens against their will in contravention of principles of diplomatic relations
and International Law, and
WHEREAS, the government of Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini continue to illegally
hold kidnapped American hostages, and
WHEREAS, the government of Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini continue to threaten
the safety and lives of the American hostages, and
WHEREAS, the people of Clermont, Florida, U.S.A., strongly condemn the gangster
tactics of the government of Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the people of Clermont, Florida, U.S.A., and
all Americans stand united in supporting the efforts of the Honorable Jimmy Carter,
President of the United States of America in his efforts to peacefully secure the safe
release of American hostages held in Iran;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that should any of the American hostages illegally held in
Iran be harmed in any way, the people of Clermont, Florida, U.S.A., and all Americans
will continue to support any responsive actions deemed appropriate by the Honorable
Jimmy Carter, President of the United States of America against the Government of
Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini.
DONE AND RESOLVED THIS 11th DAY OF December 1979.
