DONE AND RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, THIS DAY OF 1979. CITY OF CLERB40NT By: CLAUDE E. SMOAK, JR., - Mayor ATTEST: DOLORES W. Fellow American Academy of Family Physicia»s October 18, 1979 Mr. Claude. Smoak Mayor of Clermont Clermont City Hall 1 Westgate Plaza Clermont, Fla. 32711 Dear Claude: WILLIAM V. RELYEA, M. D. Diplomate American Board of Surgery I understand that there will be a city council meeting on the 23rd of October to consider the merits of the projected opening of a migrant clinic in Grove- land. Unfortunately, I will not be able to personally attend to express my objections to such a project. I base my feelings on the following reasons: 1. There is already adequate medical coverage in Groveland provided by Dr. Paraiso who is a very competent physician. 2. It is my understanding that the proposed medical coverage for this clinic will be provided mainly by non-physicians which is totally inadequate and poor medicine. 3. The population to be served is supposedly indigent and I question the accuracy of this statement. 4. The money to support this project is Federal money, and incidently our tax money, and on the basis of the items stated above, I cer- tainly object to large amounts of money being wasted in this manner. In conclusion, as a currently active practicing physician in this community, I would like to strongly object to the proposal for establishing this clinic and trust that some consideration will be given to my feelings. Yours truly, William V. Relyea, M.D. WVR/tdh cc: Thomas Honaker Administrator South. Lake Memorial Hospital
