WHEREAS, the City of Clermont and other municipalities in
the State of Florida are desperately in need of additional funds for
the purpose of street maintenance, and
' WHEREAS, the public s treets of sai d muni ci pal i ties are used
by the General Public as well as by its taxpayers, and
WHEREAS, we are of the opinion that said general public
should make some financial contribution towards the cost of the
maintenance of said streets, and
WHEREAS, in our opinion the most fair and equitable method
for such contri buts on wool d be through an adds ti onal tax on gasoline,
therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counci 1 of the City of Clermont
that the State legislature be requested and urged to levy an additional
one cent per gallon tax on the sale of gasoline and that the proceeds
from such tax be returned to the municipalities by some equitable
method.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida
at a Special Meeting held on February 26, 1970.
