R-71-176• RESOLUTIONS RESOLUTION N0. 176 • N° 255 WHEREAS, the SEABOARD COASTLINE RAILROAD has petitioned the FLORIDA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION for authority to "dualize" its Clermont and Groveland Railway Freight operations, and WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of Clermont, Florida, that this would result in the closing of the present Clermont Freight Depot, and WHEREAS, Clermont, Florida, is a striving community that is growing rapidly and is in need of local railway freight facilities, and WHEREAS, the City Council of said city deems it to the best interest and welfare of its citizens to maintain its own railway freight depot; THEREFORE, be i t resolved by the City Counci 1 of the City of Clermont, Florida, that the City go on record as opposing the aforesaid petition to "dualize" the Clermont and Groveland freight depots; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution No. 176 be forwarded to the FLORIDA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said FLORIDA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION be and the same hereby is requested to: (1) Conduct a local hearing on this matter. (2) Allow a representative from the City of Clermont to appear before the Commission in this matter, and (3) Notify the City of Clermont, Florida, of the time and place of any further hearing on this matter.
