RESOLUTION N0. 187

WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City
Counci 1 of the City of Clermont, F1 on da, that the State Department
of Transportation is considering the widening, four-laning and grade
improvements of Highway No. 50 through the City 1 i mi is of the
City of Clermont, Florida, and continuing Eastward to the Orange
County line, and
WHEREAS, the City Counci 1 of the City of Clermont, F1 on da,
has been asked to express its opinion concerning the proposed projects,
and
WHEREAS, the present grade and location of Highway No. 50
through the City of Clermont, Florida, has proven to be extremely
dangerous and has been directly responsible for several traffic
deaths and numerous accidents in recent months, and
WHEREAS, the City of Clermont wishes to improve the safety
and mobs 1 i ty of traffi c through the City without impeding through-
traffi c,
THEREFORE, the City Counci 1 of the City of Clermont, F1 on da,
resolves that the City of Clermont does hereby go on record as
favoring the widening and grade improvements of Highway No. 50 from
the West city limits of the City of Clermont, Florida, continuing
Eastward to the Orange County line, and further that the Department
of Transportation in completing and improving this section of
roadway, make every effort to plan in its construction a grade
separation at the intersection of said Highway No. 50 and East Avenue
in Clermont, and an additional grade separation at the intersection
of Highway No. 50 and either West Avenue or 12th Street in Clermont.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
be furnished to the State Department of Transportation in Tallahassee,
Florida.
