RESOLUTION N0. 283
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT,
LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF
CITIES TO SUPPORT THE RESTORLNG OF SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY.
TO MUNICTPALITIES.
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has enacted legislation abolishing sovereign
immunities of municipalities, and
WHEREAS, this legislation has resulted in dramatic increases in insurance
premiums paid by the City of Clermont and possible increase in the number of nuisance
actions filed against the City of Clermont,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Clermont
requests the Florida League of Cities to investigate the possibilities of restoring
sovereign immunity to municipalities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Clermont voting delegate be
authorized to present this resolution to the League of Cities Resolution Committee.
