CITY OF CLERMONT
RESOLUTIONS
NO . 4 9 7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT,
LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A PROCEDURE AND DEADLINES
FOR ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON THE COUNCIL AGENDA.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Clermont meets on the
second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m., and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Clermont wishes to
establish a formal procedure whereby all Council agendas are
published in the local newspapers before each meeting, in order
to increase public awareness of and participation in Council
Meetings, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Clermont must establish
deadlines for items to be placed on the Council agenda in order to
give public notice to our citizens and allow time for Council Members
to prepare for each meeting;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that upon the adoption of this
Resolution the following shall become the formal procedure of the
City Council of the City of Clermont:
1. Any item to be placed on the Council agenda must be
received in the City Manager's Office by 5:00 p.m.
on the second Friday preceding the Council Meeting.
No item shall be placed on the agenda after this
deadline. The City Manager or his designated repre-
sentative shall ensure that once the agenda is com-
pleted, the news media and Council will be notified of
all agenda items by 11:00 a.m. on the Tuesday
preceeding each meeting.
2. Any citizen wishing a matter to be placed on the Council
agenda shall write a letter to the City Council clearly
stating the purpose and/or reason he wishes to appear
before Council and what action of the Council is
requested. This letter must be received in the City
Manager's Office by 5:00 p.m. on the second Friday
preceeding each Council Meeting.
3. It is the intent of the Council to take no major action
unless an item is properly placed on the agenda, as set
forth in this Resolution.
