Proclamation - 12.8.2020 - Darren Gray DayPROCLANATTON -Whereas, Darren Gray has conscientiously served the public interest since 1988 in various military and governmental roles, of which 15 years were spent serving the residents, City Council and City Departments of the City of Clermont; and -Whereas, Darren Gray was appointed to the position of City Manager for the City of Clermont on October 15, 2012, where he assumed the challenging task of taking a strong, vibrant city to a new level of greatness that is the envy of our region, and by all objective accounts he has succeeded in his mission; and -Whereas, during his service, the city grew from a community of 29,500 residents to a city of over 44,000; a condition that demanded an incredible creative and thoughtful effort to maintain an effective balance between growth and a respect for the existing community and one that blended both existing and new conditions in a way that fostered and supported our successful Clermont lifestyle; and -Whereas, under his direction, the city staff he managed successfully converted ideas and visions of rebranding the city as the "Choice of Champions", investing in infrastructure, and developing a strong Master Plan into the fabric of our city; and -Whereas, that level of commitment and service brought to Clermont by Darren Gray will forever be a benchmark for future efforts to grow and sustain a solid financial base, strong conservative and balanced budgets, and a culture of service that will allow the city not only to prepare for the future but to fully embrace the future; and -Whereas, nowhere is that sense of commitment and accomplishment more evident than in his development of outstanding city employees who make the city run every hour, every day; and -Whereas, after all his successes Darren Gray has decided to move on from his position as City Manager; we sadly accept his decision to resign but extend to him our most heartfelt appreciation for a job very well done and wish him well as he moves on to his next public service position; and -Whereas, the 28' Day of April will henceforth be recognized within the City of Clermont as "Darren Gray Day" in honor and recognition of his tremendous contributions to the City of Clermont; and Nam, Therefore, Be it ProcCaime4 that I, Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont, and the City Council, do hereby wish to honor and thank Darren Gray for his brilliant leadership, loyalty and utmost dedication to the City of Clermont. We also pledge that the seeds planted, his remarkable work ethic, his calculated risks and rewards, and the tradition of embodying public service that he has inspired will persevere as the blueprint for the vision of the City of Clermont into the future.
