` fiiereaS, hearing loss in the United States has reached record numbers, especially during
the Covid-19 pandemic; and
V ereas, in 2007, the World Health Organization designated March 3 as World Hearing
Health Day in order to raise awareness to the growing numbers of those suffering
from hearing loss and the importance of hearing health care; and
WhereaS, in 2020 the WHO stated that approximately 466 million people worldwide have
disabling hearing loss — 34 million of these are children; and
WhereaS, as the baby boomer population ages, more Americans are forced to face hearing
health challenges; and
Whereas, hearing loss is a growing health problem that is often unrecognized in United
States adults, adolescents and children and it leads to a long list of problems
including depression, isolation, academic delays, impaired communication and
cognitive decline.
No1N, Therefore, I, Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida,
do hereby proclaim the Third of March, Two Thousand and Twenty One as:
'World Rearing Day
In Witness 'Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Clermont to be affixed this 23rd Day of February in the year Two Thousand and
Twenty One.
