Whereas, the Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) is an annual high school
competition run by a public -private partnership with the goal of sustainably
increasing the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
(STEM) workforce; and
'Whereas, every teacher that participates in the RWDC gets $1,000,000 in
professional engineering software along with training, curriculum
materials, and access to mentors; and
Whereas, students first compete in a state level Governor's Cup, with each state then
being represented in Washington D.C. to compete in the international
finals; and
Whereas, seven (7) students from East Ridge High School known collectively as the
"Knights of Aeronautics" have captured the 2021 Real World Design
Governor's Cup for the State of Florida defeating 2,272 schools from
across the state; and
Whereas, the Knights of Aeronautics, led by instructor John Raulerson, will compete
virtually on April 24, 2021 against teams from across the nation and from
distant locales such as China, India, and the Philippines for the World
Championship title.
Now, Therefore, I, Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida,
do, hereby deem it an honor and pleasure to extend this recognition to the Knights of
Aeronautics at East Ridge High School for the great achievement in the State of Florida
and wish them continued success on behalf of the whole Clermont community as they
represent our great state as Champions in Washington D.C. this coming April
