Whereas, energy efficiency is the most economical, quickest and cleanest way to meet the City of
Clermont's energy needs, avoid pollution and reduce utility bills for residents and
businesses in our community; and
Whereas, the City of Clermont, Florida, has completed several energy efficient projects for the
betterment of the environment and actively pursues such grants; and
Whereas, completed city projects include converting to LED lighting, updating air conditioning
units, equipping new buildings with energy efficient approved products, and updating
light switches, water faucets and flush valves to be censored and automatic; and
Whereas, the City of Clermont installed electric vehicle charging stations at City Hall; and
Whereas, implementing energy efficiency and other clean energy policies and programs can help
boost economic opportunities and job creation; and
Whereas, smarter energy use reduces the electricity needed to power our lives, helping avoid power
plant emissions that can harm our health, pollute our air and warm our climate; and
Whereas, for cities and like ours that are trying to tackle harmful pollution, energy efficiency can
get us moving towards emissions reduction goals; and
Whereas, cutting energy waste saves U.S. households billions of dollars on their utility bills every
year, up to $500 per household from appliance efficiency standards alone; and
Whereas, together we can continue to contribute to our sustainability efforts in our daily lives;
Wow, Therefore, I, Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida, do
hereby proclaim the month of May, Two Thousand and Twenty One as:
Energy Efficiency .Month
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City
of Clermont to be affixed this 11th Day of May in the year Two Thousand and Twenty One.
