R-06-1480CITY OF CLERMONT RESOLUTION • NO.1480 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN WHEREAS, the City of Clermont is located in Lake County. Based on the 2000 U.S. Census, the City population is 9,333. Of the 9,333 residents, 743 or 7.8% are below the poverty level. WHEREAS, the City of Clermont wishes to adopt a Community Development Plan that identifies the community development and housing needs in our area in accordance with the primary objective of the Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, and WHEREAS, the primary objective of the Title I of the Community Development Act of 1974 specifies that both short and long term community development objectives will be established. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Clermont as follows: 1. That Long Term Community Development Objectives shall be: . A) To improve the physical environment of the community to make it more functional, safe, and efficient and to preserve the integrity of the neighborhood. B) To promote the public interest.. C) To inject long range considerations into the determination of short range decisions. D) To bring professional and technical knowledge to bear on issues concerning social, economical, or physical development. E) To facilitate effective cooperation and coordination between all concerned with community development. F) To identify all available resources for major opportunities and to improve the way of life for all in the community. CITY OF CLERMONT RESDL UTION NO.1480 2. That Short Term Community Development Objectives shall be: A) To apply for Community Development Block Grant funds in the Neighborhood Revitalization category to complete drainage improvements. B) To explore other possible resources for the purpose of improving the way of life for all citizen's, especially those who live in deteriorated housing and neighborhoods.
