R-00-1137• • CITY OF CLE.RMONT • RESOLUTION NO. 1137 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE LAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS INCREASE FUNDING TO MEMBER LIBRARIES OF THE LAKE COUNTY SYSTEM WHEREAS, Libraries are important and necessary for the residents of our County; and and WHEREAS, Lake County has established aCounty-wide library system; and WHEREAS, Cooper Memorial Library is and has been a member of the County-wide system; WHEREAS, the current level of funding for the county system is not adequate to meet the needs of the member libraries; and WHEREAS, there now exists an inequity in the funding of the system, more specifically, recent figures indicate patron use at 75% non-city residents, 25% city residents with the funding level at 44% County, 43% local, and 13% other; and WHEREAS, residents of the City are also County residents and pay County Ad Valorem taxes; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida requests the Lake County Commission to increase the funding level to member libraries and specifically that the per patron funding to the member libraries of the County system be increased to a minimum of $25.00 per patron; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Clermont requests that patron counts used for the per patron contribution include City residents as well as non-city residents justifiable by the fact that City residents are also County taxpayers.
