PROCZ~IMATION
WIIEREAS, there exist many threats to the environment in our state and
nation, and preservation of the environment is a critical issue of great concern both
locally and globally, and
WHEREAS, the most effective means for alleviation of the serious problems
connection with the environment is an increase in public awareness and knowledge,
and
WHEREAS, Earth Day has been nationally established to help create
awareness of environmental problems facing every community, and
WHEREAS, the Cooper Memorial Library Board of Directors has received a
grant from Amateis Foundation to promote awareness of environmental issues through
sponsorship of Earth Day activities, and will sponsor such activities along with the
South Lake Animal League.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROBERT A. POOL, as Mayor of the City of
Clermont, Florida, do hereby proclaim April 19-25, 1992 as Earth Week in this city,
and urge all .citizens to participate in Earth Day activities at Clermont's Jaycee Beach
on April 25, 1992, and further encourage all citizens to increase their knowledge and
awareness of environmental concerns.
