MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, as he approaches his one hupdred first year, Paul '
Halstead sets an example of activity, philanthropy, creativity -~
and. service which few among us would be able to match; and,

`f3EREAS, at a time when most people would be content to lessen
•,~~heir activities, Mr. Halstead began devoting his time, energy -
and talents. to his community; and
WHEREAS, during these past years Mr. Halstead has been'~active
in and a devoted volunteer for the Clermont Kiwanis Club, the South
- Lake Art League, the .Clermont Garden Club, Cooper Memorial Library,
the Clermont Chamber of Commerce, South-Lake Presbyterian Church,
Lake Highlands Nursing Center, South Lake Memorial Hospital,' and
the Neighborhood Center; and
•:' WHEREAS", Mr. Halstead ~.s known by all of us for the wonderful
poems he writes and the beautiful roses he grows and so generously
gives away;; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that official recognition
be given ta'Paul Halstead as he celebrates his 100th birthday;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert A. Pool, Mayor of the City of
Clermont, hereby proclaim the week beginning Tuesday,
March'25, 1986 as
' PAUL HALSTEAII WEEK
in Clermont, and on behalf of the entire community, recognize and
acknowledge the dedicated service~Paul Halstead has given the City.
Mr. Halstead's contributions have made Clermont a better place for
all of us to live and work, and we extend a unanimous vote of thanks
and appreciation to him for all he has done for the City of Clermont.
