National Blood Donor MonthMAYORAL PROCLAMATION
"NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR MONTH"
WHEREAS, every few seconds, an American needs a blood
transfusion, and
in our Central Florida Area there is a need for more than 50,000
units of blood a year for the protection of our patients, and
WHEREAS, only a small percentage of those eligible to give
actually donate, and
WHEREAS, the need for blood increases at the rate of approx-
imately 15% per year to meet the health of our nation, and
WHEREAS, there is a great need for more voluntary blood
donors to provide blood for our citizens, and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States has declared
January to be National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, I, Jim Hoskinson, Mayor o f
the City of Clermont, Florida, do hereby proclaim the month of January
to be National Blood Donor Month; and further call upon aZZ citizens
to pay tribute to those among us zvho donate for others in need.
I urge citizens of aZZ ages in good health to donate during January
as we pay tribute to bZoo d donors.
I, also urge aZ2 Civic and Service Organizations, if they have not
already done so, to form blood donor groups to provide blood for
others, and to establish pre deposit blood credits for members of
their organizations.
