Defensive Driving Week• •
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, traffic accidents take a terrible toll in human life, injury
and property damage throughout the United States resulting in 57,000 lives
and billions of dollars annually; and
WHEREAS, the number of motor vehicles and drivers continue to increase
and present the threat of additional hazard; and
WHEREAS, knowledge of traffic safety requires more expertise and
consistent practice of Defensive Driving Techniques than ever before; and
WHEREAS, the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course has
been shown to assist drivers in reducing both accidents and traffic law
violations appreciably; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Safety Council has consistently supported
highway safety effort to make Lake County a safer place to live and
drive;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CLAUDE E. SMOAK, JR., do hereby proclaim the week
of April 6th through April 12th, as:
DEFENSIVE DRIVING WEEK
in Clermont, Florida. I urge the support and participation of the driving
public in joining the Lake County Safety Council and the National Safety
Council in observing this week by participating in driver improvement
training.
In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of April in the
year of our Lord nineteen hundred and seventy-five and of the Independence
of the United State of America, the One Hundred and Ninety-ninth.
