Clermont Firefighters Appreciation WeekCity of Clermont

1Nhereas, fighting fires is one of the most hazardous professions, requiring physical
strength, stamina, extensive training, courage, selfless concern for the welfare of our citizens; and
1Nhereas, in addition to their daily service to communities, firefighters throughout the
state and across the nation have joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the past fifty years
in the fight against neuromuscular diseases; and
~hereGLS, Florida firefighters collected a record breaking $1,000,000 throughout the
state with their 2005 "Fill The Boot" campaign for MDA, again making them MDA's largest
source of funding; and
1Nhereas, the Muscular Dystrophy Association is extremely grateful to the
CLERMONT FIREFIGHTERS for their support and dedication; and
Whereas, the funds collected by the CLERMONT FIREFIGHTERS assist MDA in
providing medical services at local clinics, summer camp, research grants, support groups, and
public education seminars at no cost to local children and families; and
• 1~Vhereas, in honor of the efforts of the CLERMONT FIREFIGHTERS, the
Muscular Dystrophy Assoaation is sponsoring CLERMONT FIREFIGHTERS WEEK;
NO'W, ~herefOre, be it resolved, that I, Harold S. Turville, Jr., as Mayor of the
City of Clermont, do hereby proclaim September I, through September 8, 2006 as
CLER~IO~Y'I',~"IRE,~'IC33-C~ERS ,~LPPRECI,~I?ION~YVEE.~C
and commend our FIREFIGHTERS for their efforts on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy
Association.
